LED Matrix Panel, 2U, 7.5-inch

A 2U panel for our 7.5-inch rack carrying one 8x8 WS2812 LED matrix behind a translucent diffuser. Two units because the module is 65 mm square and a rack unit is 44.45.

One matrix, not two. A retainer frame is 84 mm across and its screws reach 37 mm from its centre, so two of them want 168 mm of face — which a 254 mm panel has between its mounting slots and a 190.5 mm one does not. So this panel takes one, centred. Two across needs the 10-inch rack.

ONE PIECE. The 10-inch version is cut in half down the middle, and the cut has to dodge the windows and every screw hole. This one lies flat on the bed whole: one plate, no seam, and the window sits where the module sits rather than where the seam allows.

The diffuser is trapped, not glued. It is 64 mm square — wider than the window, narrower than the module — so the module holds it against the back of the panel and the retainer holds the module. Nothing is bonded and the matrix comes out.

In the box: the panel, the retainer frame, the diffuser, and four M3 screws and nuts. The matrix is yours: a dozen makes, all cheaper than this panel, and anyone fitting one already has the one they want.
