SSD Tray, 2U, 7.5-inch

A 2U tray for our 7.5-inch rack holding four to six 2.5-inch drives stood on edge, in a printed card cage.

Six, not ten. A drive on edge and its divider take 18 mm of floor, and the floor is 156.5 mm wide here against 220 on the 10-inch rack — so six bays fit with the comb’s strap legs either side, and seven do not. Six 2.5-inch drives in two units is still 24 TB of SATA at today’s sizes.

Drives stand on edge, not flat. Flat, a 2.5-inch drive is 70 mm wide and 100 long: two across this floor and no more. On edge each takes 16 mm, and the whole depth of the tray is available for their length. The dividers are a comb rather than individual fins so the cage is one print.

ONE BEZEL, not two. The 10-inch tray’s 2U face needs more bed than there is and ships as two lapped tiles; this one lies flat. So the box holds four printed pieces rather than five, and the face has no seam across it.

In the box: the bezel, the vented floor, two drive combs, and twelve M4 inserts and screws. The drives are yours.
